Brendan Allen Submits Christian Leroy Duncan, Calls for Middleweight Title Shot

ALLEN FINISHES DUNCAN LATE
Brendan Allen submitted Christian Leroy Duncan with a rear-naked choke at 2:46 of the fifth round in the main event of UFC Fight Night at the Meta APEX in Las Vegas on Saturday. The finish capped a grueling five-round main event and pushed Allen's winning streak to four fights.
"That's a title shot right there," Allen said after the win, calling for a bout with former middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis or a direct shot at the belt.
STRONG NIGHT ON THE REST OF THE CARD
In the co-main event, Jai Herbert beat Matheus Camilo by unanimous decision, with all three judges scoring the lightweight bout 29-28. Heavyweight prospect Allen Frye Jr. needed just 2:59 of the first round to finish RJ Harris by TKO.
Andre Fili also picked up a highlight finish, knocking out Kai Kamaka III with a head kick, while Otari Tanzilovi stopped Malcolm Wellmaker in the second round. Loopy Godinez won a unanimous decision on the card as well, continuing a solid run in the strawweight division.
ALLEN EYES A BIGGER NAME NEXT
Allen's win streak and the manner of his victories have made him one of the more in-form contenders in the middleweight division. With his post-fight call-out of du Plessis, the UFC now faces a decision on whether to grant him an immediate step up in competition or ask for one more measuring fight before a title opportunity.
