Salahdine Parnasse's KSW Pedigree Pays Off Instantly in UFC Paris Debut

THE RESULT

Salahdine Parnasse made an immediate statement in his UFC debut, stopping Dan Hooker via TKO at the 2:35 mark of the first round in the UFC Fight Night main event at Paris's Accor Arena, the promotion's fifth straight year holding a card in the French capital. Parnasse hurt Hooker with a body kick, followed it with a high kick and a left hook that dropped him, then finished with punches on the ground.

WHO PARNASSE IS

The finish validated the hype that preceded him. Parnasse arrived as a two time KSW featherweight champion and one time KSW lightweight champion, giving him a title winning resume before he'd had his first UFC bout. Hooker, a long tenured UFC veteran, was meant to be the test of whether that success elsewhere would translate to the sport's biggest promotion. It translated immediately.

THE UNDERCARD SURPRISE

The main event wasn't the only late twist on the card. Mairon Santos was pulled from his scheduled featherweight bout against Nathaniel Wood due to illness, and Pavel Andrusca stepped in on five days' notice. Wood entered as the heavy favorite; Andrusca left with a unanimous decision win, controlling Wood on the ground and outstriking him to move to 9-0.

WHY PARIS KEEPS GETTING EVENTS

This marked UFC's fifth straight year bringing a card to Paris, and the city has become a reliable stop on the international calendar. Parnasse, for his part, wasted no time calling for a ranked opponent next, naming former champion Max Holloway as his dream matchup.
