MotoGP's 2027 Calendar Adds Argentina and Adelaide, Drops Hungary and Phillip Island

A reshaped calendar

MotoGP has released its 2027 calendar, a 22-round season that opens March 5-7 at Thailand's Chang International Circuit in Buriram and closes November 26-28 at Valencia's Circuit Ricardo Tormo.

Two new venues join the schedule. Argentina returns at round four (April 9-11) at the Autódromo Oscar y Juan Gálvez in Buenos Aires, the country's first MotoGP round since sitting out 2026 and the venue's first motorcycle grand prix since 1999, replacing former host Termas de Río Hondo. Round 21 (November 12-14) brings MotoGP to a new street circuit in Adelaide, South Australia, a modified version of the track Formula One raced on from 1985 to 1995, replacing Phillip Island, which had hosted the Australian Grand Prix every year since 1997.

What drops off

Two venues are gone for 2027: Balaton Park in Hungary and Phillip Island in Australia. MotoGP said Hungary "continues to be an important destination for the championship" and that it is "committed to exploring future opportunities to return." MotorLand Aragón keeps its 2027 race under a new deal with the regional government, then becomes MotoGP's official reserve circuit from 2028 to 2031 with no guaranteed race slot.

A new technical era

2027 also marks a major regulation shift: engine displacement drops from 1000cc to 850cc, and Pirelli takes over as the spec tire supplier from Michelin, changes that will reshape bike performance and setup across the grid.

Qatar returns to its traditional March slot at round two (March 12-14) after the 2026 Qatar Grand Prix was postponed from April all the way to November due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

Three rounds still to be confirmed

Not everything on the calendar is locked in. Both the Argentina and Adelaide rounds are listed as subject to FIM homologation, and the United States round at Circuit of the Americas (round five, April 23-25) remains subject to contract. MotoGP will formally launch its 2027 season in Rio de Janeiro.
